First-Year Digital Preview Book

Our Digital Preview Book for first-year students is full of useful information aimed at preparing them for Orientation and informing you both about the day’s events.  Also included in this book are valuable checklists we have created to help your student keep track of their “to-do items” before arriving on-campus.

August Orientation Sessions

Available in May 2011!

Defining “First-Year”, “Freshman”, “Transfer” and “Non-Traditional”

New Student Orientation at the University of Arkansas considers you a first-year student or freshmen if you:

  • Are under the age of 24
  • Have less than 24 credits you are transferring in

First-year students typically attend a 2-day orientation in June or August for summer and fall admits, or a 1-day orientation in January if they are admitted for the spring semester.

New Student Orientation at the University of Arkansas considers you a transfer student if you:

  • Are transferring in 24 college credits or more

Transfer students have the option of attending a one day orientation session in August or electing to participate in the Online Orientation program.

New Student Orientation at the University of Arkansas considers you a non-traditional student if you:

  • Are over the age of 24 years old
  • Have a spouse
  • Are the primary provider for one or more children
  • Pregnant
  • Active duty military soldier or veteran

Non-traditional students have the option of attending a one day orientation session in August or electing to participate in the Online Orientation program.
