2020 Frequently Asked Questions
This decision was made with direction and guidance from state government and U of A administration. Given that each orientation session may have up to 700 students and guests in close proximity to each other during programs, we plan to host virtual sessions in order to protect the health of our students and their families.
Log in to your application center, using the personal email address you created your account with, to select an orientation date. You must first be admitted and have viewed your admissions decision notice to register for orientation. The registration form will show you the available sessions based on your academic college/major.
Some incoming freshmen will be pre-enrolled in a few hours prior to orientation. Every college manages their processes differently, so if you are not pre-enrolled in any courses, don't worry. This is normal and will not affect your fall schedule. Before your orientation date, you will receive information at your UARK email regarding a virtual 1:1 advising appointment with one of the academic advisors in your academic college. Your academic advising/registration appointment will be during your scheduled orientation date. During your time connecting with an academic advisor, you will be able to make any necessary adjustments to your fall class schedule and ask questions. The relationship between student and advisor is an important one and we can’t wait for you to make this connection.
During your virtual orientation session, you will have access to important information in online modules, dedicated one-on-one time with an academic advisor, and opportunities for you and your family to join live seminars on popular topics such as financial aid, scholarships, housing, meal plans, student accounts, and the Honors College. You will also have a chance to meet with Orientation Leaders and ask any questions you might have. A more detailed agenda will available on this website prior to your orientation date.
Orientation does not collect/charge money when your guests pre-register. There will be no guest fee applied this year for any parent or guest who wishes to participate in the online orientation alongside you. All new students are charged a non-refundable New Student Fee of $85.00 when enrolling during orientation.
Yes! Parents are welcome to go through the online orientation sessions. Guests can participate in real-time presentations that we will host throughout the summer, and may also access the online modules we will make available. We strongly encourage parents or any guest to participate along with students outside of the 1:1 advising.

The great news is the questions in the survey will not ultimately affect what courses you will be enrolled in for fall. The survey simply helps the Registrar and academic colleges determine what type of courses incoming freshmen may need to take for the fall, as this helps them in the pre-enrollment process. Some freshmen may be pre-enrolled in some courses prior to their orientation session. If there are changes that need to be made, you will be able to discuss the necessary adjustments when you connect with your academic advisor during your online orientation.
Closer to your orientation date, your academic advisor will send out more information about your one-on-one advising appointment. You will receive an email from UASuccess Calendar to your UARK account with your specific orientation time. There is nothing you must do to sign up for your advising session, as it will be a part of your overall online orientation experience.
Please contact New Student Orientation directly at firstname.lastname@example.org or 479-575-4200. We will do everything in our power to make the necessary accommodations!
