What to Expect

Your orientation session will include an appointment with an advisor, as well as opportunities to connect with essential campus offices and current students during live virtual breakouts. We will also send you a link to additional New Student Orientation content, to help you learn more about campus and prepare to start classes this fall. You will have access to these resources throughout the summer.

You can download the 2020 Online Orientation agenda for more details.

Prepare for Academic Advising

During your orientation session, you will meet virtually with an academic advisor to discuss your fall schedule of classes. A few days prior to this meeting, you will receive an email to your campus account with the meeting time and details on how to connect. There are a few steps you can complete now to make sure you are prepared for academic advising:

  1. Activate your UARK student account and email address
  2. Watch for an email from UASuccess Calendar. You will receive this email 5 business days before your advising session.
  3. Review advising information from your specific college.

Getting Ready for Orientation

There are several systems you will access during your orientation session.

  1. Activate your UARK student account and email address
If you have not activated your UARK account yet, do this first. To activate your UARK account, visit its.uark.edu/get-started. Be sure to record your password and set up your security questions to ensure you have access to your account when you need it.
  2. UAConnect (requires your UARK username and password)
UAConnect will be your source for information about your class schedule, your student account for billing and payment, financial aid, and many other important services for students. You can also view the Student UAConnect Help Center for more information about navigating the system.
  3. Blackboard (requires your UARK username and password)
During your orientation session, campus offices and orientation leaders will be hosting various breakout sessions using Blackboard, an online learning platform. You will need your UARK username and password to log in to Blackboard at learn.uark.edu.
  4. Microsoft Teams (requires your UARK username and password)
You will receive an email to your UARK email address from UASuccess with additional information about using Teams and attending your virtual advising session.
